Cameron's Yard!!

It appears Cameron is finally getting over his RSV! I'm just about over it as well. It has really hung on and taken a good 2-weeks to completely shake. The weather is finally starting to warm up. Cameron LOVES to be outside! Every day at daycare they go outside. We haven't been able to give him free reign of the yard due to the dog...so this weekend we changed that and gave him his own space in the yard (dog free). Today he got to play out there for the first time. We have fake grass in the yard and so he really got to explore it today...very different from what he's used to. Then he spent time just running circles with Daddy. Plus his slide now has a home outside of my kitchen (our $2 garage sale special!).

We have been working on using silverware. He's starting to get the hang of it. The video is of him eating. You will see he picks up the food with his fingers then places it on the fork/spoon and tries to put it in his mouth. Sometimes it makes it...sometimes it doesn't. The pictures are just of a really messy boy after ravioli.

He is definitely talking more! On occasion he has even put a couple of words together. For example, Karla's dog (daycare) is named Bella. She told me when the dog goes upstairs he will stand at the bottom of the stairs with his hand up and yell "Come Bella" over and over until she comes back down. He's also got quite a few words completely downpat and is copying a lot of what we say (so really needing to watch ourselves now). He also has the word "No" down. When we tell him no, he will continue to touch the thing he wasn't supposed to touch and say "No" each time he touches it. Still loves talking on the phone, though not always when we want him to talk to someone.

This video is just for Grandma Barb...he loves his giraffe. He runs around carrying it and pushing buttons so it plays music.

Thank you to Aunt Lynn for the chair that is going to cause his first broken bone. :-) He has learned to climb up in it on his own now...and then leaps over the side onto Ralph. We have to make sure the bear is always beside it to provide some cushion for his landing. Such a little daredevil!

Cameron isn't keen on taking the stairs like he should. He knows how, but refuses to go down backwards and crawl. He only wants to walk like a big boy.

Talking & Dancing

Cameron has been sick with RSV/bronchiolitis. It is a respiratory virus so we are doing breathing treatments. We learned our lesson tonight to not do it too close to bedtime. He gets wired after a treatment and turns into psycho baby! He actually ran laps around the couch in the loft. No way to keep him calm & low key so his breathing stays even. About an hour later he finally calmed down enough for bed. During his Albuterol trip, he did some dancing for us. He loves this video of nursery rhymes.

Some talking videos. In the first, he is saying "Ta Da". The second one, with Ralph, he says "Awww" when he gets cuddly. Then the last is him saying banana, which comes out "ba la la". I love how he pokes his little tongue out when he says it.

Chatterbox

Just some Cameron chatter. This one doesn't make any sense to us, but it sure seems to make sense to him. It's a full conversation.

Almost 16 Months

We continue to teethe like crazy in this house. The canine teeth he was working on back at Thanksgiving are still not all the way through...he's up to 8 right now that he is for sure working on. You can see them all just barely ready to poke through the gums. Poor little guy. You really wouldn't notice until night when he has times he wakes up several times crying. Hopefully they come in soon. He has 8 right now so he is trying to double his number of teeth all at once. I swear this kid never gets just one at a time.


He is also starting to talk a little clearer and try new words. The other day at daycare he was apparently in his little pack & play and just woke up from a nap. A parent arrived and rang the door bell. Karla said Cameron pointed and said "Door". Some of his other random words have been lunch, puppy, and balloon. We are working on animal sounds, too. He is so funny trying to copy me on the sound a sheep makes. He sticks his little tongue out and goes "ah ah ah". I want it on video...we'll see. His word of choice though, and the one that still comes through clearest is crackers. Don't ask me why he picked such a hard word to master first. He is also finally nodding his head yes when we ask him if he wants something.


Still absolutely adores his books! Always the same ones even though he has a huge stack. Other favorite toys these days are his blocks & big legos. He loves to have us build towers so he can knock them down. Then he will put his legos together and take them back apart...it entertains him for a while.


Now that he's mastered walking, he's getting really close to mastering running! Apparently at daycare he is starting to climb on everything. He hasn't started that at home yet. Although he is loving the stairs more than ever. Last weekend I was switching the laundry. He was by my side when I started...30 seconds later he was gone. Nowhere to be found so I called his name and heard a little giggle. He had climbed up to the top of the stairs and was standing at the baby gate. Now it's turning into a game. I guess we are going to need one at the bottom of the stairs now too.


So most of the kids at daycare are just a little older than Cameron (by 3-6 mos). David said a couple of days ago they were all jumping in the morning when Cameron was dropped off. He is trying to learn from them because that same night I told David he was trying so hard to jump when I got him home. He continues to try to figure it out and it's so darn funny!

Cameron still had David's ear muffs out from our trip to Brian Head. He usually doesn't let us leave anything on his head. However, he really got a kick out of wearing these. We put them on him and he left them there...just went about his business and played.

Happy New Year!!

Our New Years Eve was pretty low key. Grandma & Grandpa Graham and Uncle Adam left to go home that morning. They woke me up to see them one last time before they left and we took some pictures.




Later that afternoon, Mom and Dad were trying to play the new Mario Wii game. I wanted all of the attention so I kept climing up in their face and pushing buttons on the controller. My newest thing is giving out kisses, but with my tongue.

This is what happens when Dad is on the computer and doesn't watch what I'm doing right beside him on the floor. Dad's wallet has lots of fun stuff in it!

He loves to eat Goldfish crackers...whenever he sees the box he sounds like a broken record saying "crackers" over and over until you give him some. This picture below is him laying on the floor staring at the cat (at a safe distance from the biting at least) with his snack cup of crackers.

Overall, New Years Eve night was like any other night. I'm sure 2010 will bring lots of new fun! I'm learning new things all the time now. I will actually keep socks & shoes on my feet! I'm able to eat my food in bowls and plates now...we are starting to work on using silverware without dumping the food all over me (we're starting to get it, but it's still a little messy). I've also learned how to open the doors in the house so I can no longer be corraled! And now that I've mastered walking...I'm trying really hard to run! Mom and Dad tell me I look like a drunk baby when I try to run.

Merry Christmas!!

Well, Santa came on the 27th when we returned from Brian Head!! I took Cameron upstairs so everyone could set up the presents. When I brought Cameron down he was all excited about the bouncy horse Santa had brought. He walked towards it with his hand out and looked at it in awe. It makes noises so he was all interested and wanted us to put him on it. Of course his little legs are too short so we have to hold him on it...might be a while unless he hits a really big growth spurt.

This was the first time Cameron really started to understand how to open presents and showed some interest...at least for the first few. He would rip off a piece of the wrapping paper and then look inside to see what was in it.

About halfway through he sat in a pile of his presents and played with a new outfit by putting it (and wrapping paper) on his head. He loved that everyone watched and laughed at him. We made the mistake of leaving his popcorn popper (little push toy) unwrapped and out in plain sight because he kept trying to go for that instead of finishing his unwrapping. He also seemed pretty taken with a roaring dinosaur flashlight from Grandma Beth...probably because it made noise and was one of the earlier things he opened. It was a bit distracting.

Once we got everything opened up, we started taking it out of the boxes so he could play.

Here he is hugging his new dog...when we really get this one working I'm sure he'll be taken with it because it can learn to say his name.

This picture is just for Norm. We opened the box and he ripped it out and it went right to his mouth. He seemed a little upset as to why it was empty...we thought maybe you should've put some milk in it for him. ;-)

Cameron loves removing the candy canes from the tree and eating them...and getting them all over everything!! Part of the reason we left a baby gate up around the tree so he couldn't get to them unless we got it down.

Grandma & Grandpa Graham got him this puppet dog that barks songs when you move his mouth. He was so exhausted that he fell asleep on it. Apparently there was just too much Christmas excitement!

Trip to Brian Head.

This year we decided to go up to Brian Head for Christmas weekend. Not only did we have built in baby sitters with Grandma & Grandpa Graham...but it was Cameron's first real white Christmas. Our trip got a little delayed due to snow in Dallas (go figure). So we didn't make it up there on Christmas Eve as we planned...so we got up there early in the day on Christmas.

We made our Christmas dinner there and then we got in some sledding time. It was too cold for Cameron that night so we took him out the next morning. This was his first time playing in snow. He really wasn't sure what to think of it all. However, there was a lot of entertainment watching Dad, Uncle Adam & Grandpa Malcolm sled down the hills and roll around in the snow. Poor Cameron was so bundled up he looked like the poor little boy in A Christmas Story that can't put his arms down in his snow suit.

He got pulled around in his sled and even got to ride down the hill solo!







Grandpa was lots of fun! We watched him go down the hill on his head and try standing up in the sled. He took lots of spills. Even threw Grandma in the snow! He made a snow angel and then I sat in it.



Poor little guy was freezing when we finally got him back inside!! While we were there we made a nice bed for him on the floor in a sled. He didn't sleep too well though...woke up just about every 2 hours and usually ended up in bed with mom & dad. Especially when he would get up out of bed and we'd feel his little hands walking along our bed. Definitely not ready for a toddler bed!
