Meet our new bear Ralph

Not a lot of new updates. Just thought we'd add some new pictures. Working on getting some videos, but Cameron isn't wanting to cooperate lately. In the last blog I mentioned he started clapping. Now if we start singing "If you're happy and you know it" he will start clapping. Does the same thing with Patty Cake. He will also blow kisses now...when he's in the mood.

As far as words, we can add bear to the list. Though bear & ball sound almost the same. Tonight he also copied me when I was calling the cat...he said "kitty kitty kitty". Then giggled. He is starting to mimic some of the things we say, though not always really clear. He said ass the other day after David said it. So now we are trying to watch what we say a little more.

Still no walking!! He has started letting go of things and starting to take a step or two, but usually ends up falling forward and gives up. Then his favorite past time lately is unloading every cupboard in the house! It took him a little while to figure out how to open them. All will be child proofed, except for one in the kitchen that will be his cupboard. It keeps him entertained.

Daycare is going really good! Although, the last two mornings he cried when David dropped him off. Karla told me he quickly got over it though and seems to be adjusting well. They play outside every day, which he LOVES. He cries when she brings him back in. They also have a little dog that is just Cameron's size. She says he always tries to sneak into his cage and lay on his bed. When we get home at night he is extra cranky!! Likes to have crying tantrums. Hoping it will pass soon...we shall see.

Meet Ralph. This is Cameron's new bear. He puked on the old one and ruined it. Since it was his favorite toy we had to get him another...we are calling this one Ralph since that is how he came to be ours.

13 Months

We've had a few new developments lately...nothing big though. Cameron is now waving and can clap his hands. Still no walking!! Still not saying mama or dada...but he will say duck. LOL. There are times we think he is trying to mimic what we say, but it is so jumbled that you cannot really tell for sure. And he has times he will talk your ear off...it's a bunch of nonesense but he doesn't seem to notice.

Tomorrow marks a new chapter for Cameron...he goes to day care for the first time! I'm sure he will have lots of fun playing with the other kids (all boys except one). I think he'll do great...I'm sure he will even start to pick up some new tricks. Not sure yet how much of it will be a good thing.

We gave him spaghetti tonight for the first time and let him make a mess. He was covered from his head to his knees...went right to the tub after dinner.

We think Cameron is going be a great wrestler someday...he likes to host Wrestle Mania in the loft with his big teddy bear. Loves to roll around on the floor and throw the bear around. He is even perfecting the art of a body slam. Always the little ham.

Pumpkin Carving Fun

Last Sunday, we went to the pumpkin patch to pick out a big pumpkin to carve. Cameron was so excited and just wanted to play in the pumpkins.



They had a petting zoo with a few goats, sheep, ducks, and chickens. Cameron wasn't overly thrilled...didn't want to touch them, but we tried. He also got his first bag of cotton candy.



Apparently it was a big day because on our way to lunch he passed out in the car.



We got a really big pumpkin...initially thinking we could put him in it to take some pictures like we did last year (just for fun). We also picked out a couple of little pumkins that were just his size. He is so busy that we couldn't really get any good pictures of him sitting with the pumpkins. He was more interested in picking up the little ones and throwing them. I'm surprised they didn't smash all over the floor.




We scooped out the insides. Cameron was all intrigued with trying to look inside the pumpkin. He officially has pumkins growing in his belly...he ate a pumpkin seed. Then while I was carving the pumkin tonight he tried to eat the pieces I carved out. Even though he didn't like the taste he kept trying...maybe hoping the next bite would taste better.

Poor little man...he just didn't know what to do. :-)

Then he helped me trace the face so we could carve it out. He kept trying to hold the little knife.

Then Cameron had to check out the finished product.

He will do anything that gets him a laugh. Also seems to have an obsession with touching his nose to everything! I think I started it when he was really little because we used to do eskimo kisses. He's so goofy.

Halloween Party

Our friend Bella hosted a Halloween party for the kids today. We thought it would be fun to get them all dressed up for a play date. So we were trying to decide what he would be for Halloween. David and I were pretty disappointed that we couldn't come up with anything good on our own...so we went to the Halloween store. There were only 5-6 options in his size. A pirate was the cutest of the group.

At first, Cameron wasn't too happy about being in his costume. He eventually got over it. The hat never stayed on his head for more than 10 seconds, so we are going to need to work harder to get some pictures later of the full costumer. We tried really hard to find him an eye patch, but nothing. Then we decided to make him a sword.

At the party, we thought it would be best to get the pictures out of the way. Mostly because we knew the kids wouldn't last long because some of the costumes weren't overly comfortable. The first round of photos didn't go so well. We got them all lined up on the couch. Then the chain reaction of crying started...Jacob...then Karina.

We figured with all the crying it was best for each of us to sit with them and have the photos taken. They were a little happier with that.

My poor little man doesn't look like much of a pirate without his hat and the sword we made. As we guessed, he wouldn't leave the hat on for more than 10 seconds. We'll take some more photos later and figure out how to get a good one. He kind of looks like Austin Powers. :-)

We then went outside. Bella's husband Rob built the kids a haunted house play area. We probably looked pretty ridiculous because we were the ones on our hands and knees climing through it to try and get the kids to go inside. Eventually they all made it in.

Cameron was such a boy though and I think he preferred trying to eat the rocks.

After the haunted house, we let the kids change and play. They took turns pushing Serafina in the baby doll stroller.

And got lots of sugar!!

And when it came time for good byes...tried giving kisses.

It must have been a success. All of the kids were exhausted (along with us). Cameron fell asleep not 5 minutes after we got in the car. I think they are all wanting to go to bed early tonight.

Tonight we discovered Cameron's love of sour gummy worms.

Sideways Walk

We've continued working toward walking. However, he's just not that interested yet. We have at least gotten him to the point where he will walk holding just one hand though. When we can get him to do it (and not throw himself down in a fit)...he starts doing this funny sidways walk. I think it makes him feel more balanced. Plus there is a safety net where he can just grab ahold of us with his empty hand if he starts to fall.

Our walking goal is by Halloween. We'll see if we make it. A couple of times we have held his waist to have him walk and have pulled our hands away a little bit...he took a couple of steps and then panicked. We haven't really counted that as walking on his own. 2 more weeks and he'll have it...we just know it. ;-)

One Year Pictures

We took Cameron to have his 1-year pictures done. Of course he was all smiles when we got there...flirting with the girl. Then as soon as we step foot into the area where they take the pictures...he gets all serious. She did a great job. Cameron really made her work to get a smile though. The worst part was their AC was being repaired so it was easily 100 degrees in that little room. In spite of it all, the pictures turned out pretty good.
