March Fun!

We went to the Orlando Science Center. This was technically Cameron's second time. His first time with us. He loved that he could show us around. This time they had a Star Trek exhibit. David and Cameron built magnetic cars. We took some photos next to the costumes.




Then the kids had fun racing cars and playing with the exhibits. We had to take the last photo to show Reindeer the fun he missed while waiting for us in the car.




Cameron painted a bird house that we bought at Joanne's. He wanted to do a craft project. We hung it up in the bush out front of the house so the birds could use it. I really don't think any of them are using it, but he was pretty proud. Then we played with the Christmas pine cones they decorated that are still hanging in the bush. So much fun, but we really need to stop with crafts that go outside.



Funny Cameron Story: Cameron got a time out for hitting Melia. After a little while, I told him he could be done with time out if he was ready to be good. He continued sitting there and looked at me and said "I can't, I'm still being bad!"

He also taught Melia a new song he apparently made up. One night at dinner Melia started singing a song and we weren't quite sure what she was saying...of course Cameron started giggling. He was able to translate for us: "I wish, I wish, Melia was gone". It was a little chant/song. He said he made it up and sang it to her and she caught right on. Of course she was so proud of the song. We told him it wasn't very nice to wish his sister was gone...so he changed the words and started working on teaching her a nicer version.

Max is still on his mind. We gave Cameron some old photos we had of Max and Azriel. We actually put up a photo board and put photos on it of friends, our old pets, and cousins. One night I went in to check on Cameron before bed. This is what I found...poor boy still misses his puppy.



He loves his art projects! For St. Patrick's Day he made a leprechan and a rainbow with a pot of gold.



Then like a crazy kid, he made his first lap in the pool for 2013. It was a really nice day. Though with no heater on the pool, the water was freezing!! He kept telling me he was brave and could do it. I think he was an ice cube by the time he got to the other side. Needless to say, that was a short lived dip in the pool. Daddy even surprised us all by running and jumping in with his clothes on.




Otherwise, in the month of March they have spent a lot of their days playing at parks...having picnics. Here are some photos of Cameron pulling Melia to the park in our community for one of those days. Then just some random shots from the rest of the month.

Fun in February

We did Disney...again! It's definitely the place we spend most of our free time. This trip was just me and the kids alone. It was really busy so we occupied our time on quick rides with no lines (very few of these). We rode the carousel for the first time there. Cameron actually requested it, which is a shock. He actually likes them now. We spun around in the tea cups...Cameron was spinning us so fast. And we bought some balloons...that were seriously still floating 2 months later!!



More bubble bath fun! They still love their baths together.



They love playing in the rain together. Our patio gathers little puddles all over. They like to run through them, splash, and even bend down to put their hair in it. Such cheap entertainment.




Cameron is such a gamer! He has developed a love of the game of Life. He really gets into it...though sometimes we think it's because he knows it takes a long time and he gets our attention. LOL. This night he beat us...and we have pictures of his victory dance. Haha!

Then just some final photos from February. Cameron is becoming quite the social butterfly at the park. He loves running around playing with the other kids. Such a change in him! He's growing up so fast. Still loves to help us cook...and such a great big brother!

Some Cameron stories:

• He loves what he calls "fast music". In the car he will ask us to change the station and then stop it when he finds something he likes. He asked me to stop one day and he was on a Spanish station...he LOVES this music. When the song stopped the guy started talking. Cameron gets a puzzled look and says, "mom, what is he talking about?" I told him he was speaking Spanish. Cameron's goes, "Your car speaks Spanish?". It was funny to see the look on his face. He can still only count to 10 in Spanish...and has learned to say hola and gracias. Haha.
• The kids got in trouble several times before bed one night. As soon as Melia was in bed, Cameron asked to play Life. I told him not tonight because it was almost bed time. I went in to switch laundry. A few minutes later he walked in and started patting my back and said "Mom, I understand what it feels like when you get so frustrated and angry. I'm really sorry we dumped all the water out of the tub on the floor and ate the butter." LOL. You'd think I flew off the handle or something. And yes, they did splash a lot of water out on the floor...and were caught climbing on the table to get the butter!

We ended the month with putting in Cameron's initial application for VPK (voluntary pre-kindergarden). He is super excited. He went over to the school with us to inquire and fill out the forms. We will have everything confirmed by the end of April. I can't believe my little man will be starting school soon!

Cameron...the Model!

We were shopping in JC Penny. Cameron kept asking to get out and take a picture with the mannequins. I finally entertained him. What he did was hysterical!! He casually (like he does this all the time) stepped up on the box they were on and posed exactly like they were standing. He popped his knee and everything. The look on his face was as if he was staring off in the distance...like a catwalk model. It was so funny. I seriously have no idea where he learned this. Really made me wonder who my kid has been shopping with. LOL.

Music Class

We wanted to get Cameron involved in some activities that would get him out with other kids. We found Music with Mar. It was great because kids of all ages could go...so it was easy for Haley to take both of them. It's a great class with lots of stories, songs & dancing. They are going every Thursday. They love it!

Valentines Day

For Valentines Day they each got a little basket of goodies. Daddy found annoying dogs that play songs and dance. Of course they each got one. It was a huge hit!! Cameron's was far more mellow. They kept turning both on at the same time and dancing like crazy...over and over and over!

Cameron - Riding his Bike

He's doing it on his own!! I realized the only video I had was of him getting help. We've been practicing...though for a while it was like pulling teeth. Once he started to get the hang of it, he willingly would jump on. I think he likes the fact that he can ride down to the stop sign and come back. We're still having trouble building his confidence to turn around while he rides on his own. It will be a while before we can really take a ride anywhere together. He still thinks he isn't good enough to go through the neighborhood while we walk with him.

I was trying to teach him to turn around. He rode down the sidewalk a couple of houses on his own. I told him to try going down and turn around and come back. He got down and started hollering at me to come and help him. I told him to keep going and turn around like we had practiced. He started getting off the bike and rips his helmet off screaming at me, "Mom...I am just a kid...You cannot expect me to turn around all by myself...I'm done". It was quite funny!! Except that he walked away from his bike and refused to get back on. I had to push it back to the house. LOL.

January 2013

Pictures of Melia and Cameron actually being nice to each other. Still happens...but they are definitely getting to be fewer and fewer. Between Cameron's instigating and Melia's crabbiness, they drive each other crazy. When Cameron is annoyed and wants her away he will say "Mom, will you come and get your daughter". LOL.




















He loves to play tag. Contstantly looking for someone to run around the house with. It turns out to be a pretty good work out.














Papa Rick and Lisa came to visit us. We went to play mini golf. We had been dying to check out Winter Summerland at Disney (Santa themed). Papa Rick was giving him lessons. They even bought him his first real putter...and took him Pirate golfing before they left.

Other things that happened in January. We have been reading Secret Garden. It certainly prompted us to have some pretty deep conversations about death. No one dies, but there is a boy in the book that is sick and they talk about him as if he is dying. Cameron wanted me to explain what happens when people die. Then he wanted me to explain heaven. The wheels were definitely turning. He started asking who I knew that had died, if it was sad...and of course then wanted to know whether or not I was going to die or if he was going to die. By that point he was teary eyed. Scared himself. I think it ended on a pretty good note. He has talked about it several times since and seems be ok with it now. The bonus, I worked in the fact he needs to eat his veggies to take care of his body so he can live longer. Haha.

Mommy & Cameron had a special day at Magic Kingdom...just the 2 of us. It was a perfect day! Lines were pretty short and the park was not very busy. We got to spend time talking about the movies that some of the rides are based on that he has never seen (like Peter Pan and Little Mermaid). We definitely need to get this kid up to speed on the Disney movies. We left the park with a blue mustache from his candy.










We also have a new staple on TV. Cameron and Melia have discovered America's Funniest Home Videos. Every night at 7 PM he begs to turn it on. He will giggle away and just loves watching it. Who knew all these years later it would still be on...or that it would be something we'd have to watch all the time.

Then finally a wagon picture. They do love going for a ride...or being pulled down the driveway really fast.
