Disney World!!!

Ok, so Disney was probably a better thought than it was a reality. We've had quite a string of bad luck lately and it continued on this trip. Last Wednesday Cameron got sick at daycare. Thursday I had him to the doctor and he was diagnosed with strep throat and a touch of the stomach bug that was apparently going around. On Friday night (of course the night before we leave) he has a bad reaction to his medicine so we find ourselves calling the nurses line to track down our doctor and have her call in a new prescription to a 24 hour CVS so we can get him on something else before we fly out the next morning.

The morning of we were running late leaving the house. Got all the way on the highway and realized David left his wallet and phone at home so we had to turn around. Made it to the flight in time (thank god). No issues with connections, but we did get lost on the way to the hotel that night...in true Emily fashion. Always get turned around in Orlando. Cameron did great on the plane. He was so excited to fly again! He and David played games on the Iphone - mostly a monster game and angry birds. Cameron loves those.



We stayed at Wyndham Bonnet Creek Resort, which is right on Disney property. I love that property and it's the perfect location.

And there is a play ground where he did some rock climbing.



He crashed hard after playing on the playground.



Then there are 5 pools, 2 lazy rivers, and multiple kids pool areas. We didn't get to take advantage much due to him being sick, then me being sick...and trying to fit everything in we wanted to do. But he did love it! He especially loved dunking dad in the pool! Then while swimming he would sing "just keep swimming...just keep swimming".

Then there was the fun had by jumping off the couch onto his bed.



Tuesday night after work we went over to Downtown Disney for dinner. We ate at T-rex thinking Cameron would be into the dinosaurs. He didn't last long before he wanted to move to a chair next to me and practically ate his dinner glued to my arm. He was determined the dinosaur was going to fly off the wall and get him. Every 15 minutes or so they come to life and move around. He liked it overall, but was a little unsure.



At the end of dinner we tried to put him in the sand/rock pit. You could dig up dinosaur bones. This picture is so Cameron...he was more concerned with his feet getting dirty and rocks between his toes that he couldn't actually play.



I had to work the first couple of days we were in Orlando. Then Wednesday we went to Sea World. Cameron was most excited about the penguins, dolphin show, and seeing sharks. The sad part was he crashed hard for a nap just as we were getting to the sharks so he didn't get to see them...and was sure to tell me later how he didn't get to see any sharks! We didn't get to see Shamu due to the first show being full early and not sticking around for the last show of the night. It was so hot and we were all exhausted. We never did get him to ride any of the little kid rides there. He is still afraid of carousels. Most of his "ride" time consisted of climbing a rope ladder up to a boat over and over.



Thursday was a resort day. I was so sick I couldn't get out of bed. Cameron and David just entertained themselves. Luckily on Friday I was feeling better and we could go to Disney World! Since Cameron was so anti-rides, we wanted to start him off slow. We took him to It's a Small World first because he had no idea it was a ride. Then the same trend followed for most of it. He rode Peter Pan, Snow White, Winnie the Pooh...all basically the same type of ride where he had no clue he was getting on one. He was bummed he couldn't find Captain Hook in Pirates of the Carribbean. Loved Buzz Light Year. The highlight ride for him was the Tomorrowland Speedway...he actually got to drive a car!! We didn't get him on Dumbo until the very end of the night...took a lot of coaxing.



Winnie the Pooh had it right...lots of toys and things to entertain the kids while you waited in line. This was a hit! Then Tigger & Pooh were outside the ride so Cameron got to see his first characters. This one went over the best, even though he's not really as into them as Mickey & gang.

The Carousel of Progress put him to sleep...he crashed so hard!!



The nap caused us grief because Buzz was outside so we waited in line. He woke up so cranky that he wanted nothing to do with anything. And the character photos went down hill. Mickey & Minnie were after Buzz and it was a repeat. I had to hold him to force these photos.

The stocks are supposed to be for kids that misbehave, but Cameron thought they were great and wanted to stick around and stay in them. We had to pull him away to do the Haunted Mansion.



And we loved these photos!!



We squeezed in some putt putt golf...but got rained out the last 2 holes. This was Cameron's first time golfing. He was so funny.



I wonder if this is how Tiger Woods played golf at age 2?







They gave him a pirate hat and flag when we finished. He put them on in the car and immediately screamed "Argh Matey". Hysterical!




Flight home ended up being delayed almost 3 hours...made for a long day. To top it off David was sick on the way home. Overall, we had fun...just probably not the best idea to travel now.

We colored easter eggs on Friday night. This was the first year we attempted it. He was pretty into it...after he realized that decorating them was not done in the same way you decorate a Christmas tree. He orchestrated the entire thing...how long to leave them in the dye and how many stickers to pile on top of each of each other. Quite the masterpiece.

The Easter Bunny came to Cameron's house! He was excited to see his basket full of goodies. I think all he had for breakfast was candy, which was quite alright with him.



Later that morning we were on our way to Sunset Park for our annual Easter picnic with our friends. The kids all had fun playing. We did a small egg hunt, though there aren't really places to hide eggs in a busy park so it was more of an egg collect. Weather was perfect!

March/April 2011

We took Cameron to the Clark County Fair. Believe it or not it was so cold that it rained, sleeted & snowed while we were there (yes this is the desert and it was April)! We got stuck in an animal barn for probably 30 minutes while we waited for the thunder and storm to pass. Cameron wasn't too thrilled as he wasn't overly interested in the animals. He just wanted to go see the rides. It did clear enough for us to ride...though it continued to sprinkle. We only made it 2.5-3 hours total because it was just so cold and we had to thaw out.

This was Cameron's first time really riding. We thought we'd ease him into it and try the carousel first. David couldn't get him on a horse...so they sat in the bench. BORING! :) Made us question our plans to take him to Disney. He did get more into it when we got to the next options. They walked through a mirror fun house, which he liked. Then he went through a line of the same ride...just different things to ride on (whales, boats, planes, cars, etc.) that go in a circle.

From the look on his face you would never know he was having fun. It was just a blank stare and he refused to smile. Although, when he got off he asked to get right back on one. We even tried another carousel round to see if we could get him on a horse...he screamed and cried!

They actually let him go on the little roller coaster. Probably shouldn't have been allowed as David had to literally hold him in. This video is really not that good because you can't see them, but it shows the ride itself. The look on Cameron's face was priceless...he looked terrified and had his little hands wrapped with a death grip on the handle bar. When the ride stopped he looked at David and said "that was fun dad". So the kid that is terrified of riding a horse on a carousel loved a roller coaster.

He was so tired he fell asleep while eating a churro.



Papa Rick came out to visit in March. They started watching Toy Story together on Cameron's little DVD player. He loves this movie! He will sit through it over and over again without moving...and will literally recite parts of it. You can tell from this picture Papa wasn't as interested in the movie and napped.



We took Cameron down to MGM Grand for something different to do. We say the lions and ate lunch at Rainforest Cafe. He liked all the animals there. We were sitting at a table that had rain falling from the ceiling right at our back...that he wasn't so impressed with. At first he was a bit upset that it was splashing him.



He loves "driving" the car. Look at that big cheesy grin! It has turned into a fight every time we get out of the car because he just wants to climb in the front seat and play versus getting out of the car to go in the house.



Since it's playoff season, this one fits. Cameron still references our chanting at the time of the Superbowl and will randomly want one of us to say Steelers and the other say Packers. Well, at the first playoff game for the Mavericks, David started saying "Mavericks". Cameron then started saying Packers. We had to explain that Steelers/Packers was football and Mavericks was basketball. So we got him chanting for the Mavs.

29 Months

We were at Joanne Fabrics a few weeks ago. We bought a book to make cake lollipops. Such creative ideas in the book - making animals and stuff for every holiday. Cameron got really excited and all he could talk about was making lollipops. I must say our first attempt was pretty good!



While we were shopping we had a little fun too...if we had bought it Cameron would have been ready for the beach.



We went to a tea party for a play date (poor Cameron was the only boy at this play date). We had to dress him up like a Prince. He thought it was pretty cool (wouldn't leave the house without it on the next day). Crashed hard in the car after the party. Playing with all those girls is exhausting.



He's my little computer geek already! He is addicted to his little computer. Recently got hooked on a "find the cheese" maze game. Took a little while to figure out...now we can't get his nose out of it. He gets in such a zone.

We went over to Target recently and he fell asleep on the way...so we let him sleep in the cart. He always has his hand behind his head like this. Funny thing was we had our ultrasound yesterday and the baby had her hands behind her head in the same position. They are definitely related!!

He is completely into babies right now (we hope it sticks). Whenever we see a baby out in public he gets all excited and begs for us to follow them around the store saying "get the baby...let's take it home". Poor mother thinks we are trying to kidnap her baby! He also always asks to take our friends baby home. Let's hope this sticks.

We tried to explain to him tonight that he's going to be a big brother. We were explaining that mommy had a baby in her belly and it was growing. He asked to see and tried looking in my belly button only to say "I don't see it". Then he took his hands and pushed around to feel for it. A little while later he put his head on my belly and said "hi baby". Now he just keeps talking about mommyhaving a baby in her belly.

Cameron has a new favorite saying...first you have to picture watching Joey on Friends. He says "how you doin' baby?". It's so funny. I keep telling him he shouldn't be saying that to his mother.
