Playing Catch Up

This is going to be a mix of a lot of stuff to get us updated. Something I missed from the last blog...Cameron has learned how to put his thumb up. He is so cute because he will look at his hand and concentrate really heard to do "thumbs up". When he gets it there he says "look mom" and holds his hand out all proud.

Still a very messy eater! This is peach yogurt all over his face. He likes to try and drink out of the containers and gets it on his forehead.



This year Cameron was so excited by the christmas lights that started popping up that we had to decorate early. I'm usually anti-Christmas decorations until after Thanksgiving. This year we put the tree up the weekend before Thanksgiving. He helped by handing all of the branches and ornaments to us. Once it was put up...all he did was play under it. We even got him his own little tree.

Cameron's friend Ava had her birthday party! They set up carnival games for the kids to play. Cameron loved it and was so cute trying to do each one of them.

He helped us bake banana bread for Thanksgiving...and had fun licking the beater.

He then crashed on my shoulder after Thanksgiving dinner. He climbed up on the couch beside me and said "awww" then within seconds was out cold.

And his latest thing is "painting my floor". He gets a bbq brush out of the drawer in the kitchen and pulls little paint cans out of a closet and carries them around. He takes the brush and pretends to dip it in...then runs it all over the floor. Thank god he can't open them!

Our little man...always a cheesy grin when he knows you're taking a picture.

2-Year photos...a little late.

I finally took Cameron for his 2-year photos. We are only about 6-weeks late. After the last picture session I was bracing myself for a disaster. The day of pictures he refused to take a nap. Spent 1.5 hours in his room playing and refusing to sleep. So I made him promise if he took good pictures he could come out...then we'd go Christmas shopping after. He said "ok". It apparently worked because he did really good! Said "cheese" every time he was asked.

After we walked through some stores and looked at christmas trees and decorations...that's what he thinks going Christmas shopping means right now. When you ask what he wants for Christmas his answer is..."hmmm...a christmas tree". Somehow I'm sure this is the last year we'll hear that. :-)

FYI - These photos are not the high resolution photos so they cannot be saved & reprinted (for those that do it with other pictures). We have purchased the CD and can share the high res photos & reprint rights for anyone that wants them.

I don't believe the terrible twos...

Whoever said "terrible twos" was so off!! I really think terrible two's is better matched to their 2nd year of life...when they are 1. I am loving this age!! Wish I could just freeze him here forever. I still think everything he does is cute, even when he's bad. It drives David crazy.

A few random things he is now able to do...cross his fingers, skip, blow his nose, and walk down the stairs without holding onto the railing. Some of these are pretty insignificant I'll admit, but it's just amazing watching him learn new things all the time no matter how small. He's such a big boy!


He still doesn't talk on the phone (for the most part). However, when I was in Olando a couple of weeks ago we had a good 15-20 minute conversation with him. It was like I was in the room. He had hurt his finger and was wanting me to kiss his finger through the phone. He was also eating a cookie and tried to share it with me. When it was time to hang up he gave the phone a hug & kiss and said "night night mom".

We have a Fresh & Easy store right behind our house. We pass it every time we go anywhere. Cameron knows it by name...and when he sees the logo he knows exactly what it is. Every time we drive by I hear..."I wanna go Fresh n Easy Mom". Over and over again. He will even randomly ask to go without seeing it. He has an obsession. I think it's because they have a sample area and he always gets a snack. When we leave (or times I won't stop to take him in) he will say "Bye Fresh n Easy" and wave at the store. Or when I don't take him he will start crying like it's the end of the world. He could be a commercial for the store. I've thought about making a video to submit it to them because they use customers in all of their radio ads.

Timeout no longer works at our house. When Cameron gets in a mood he will ask for timeout. It's usually when he's cranky but has not been bad enough that I would put him in time out...so he says "I want a timeout". I will usually just say, ok go ahead and give yourself a time out. So he will go sit in the corner and cry. It's actually quite comical.



If anyone knows how to reset a 2-year olds internal clock please let me know! Ever since daylight savings time Cameron has been getting up between 5:45 and 6 AM. It's like my alarm for work is in his bedroom. He has spent the mornings playing in the bathroom while I get ready. On the weekends we try to keep him up until 10 or 11....he's still up at the same time! Sometimes he will lay back down with us, but not usually for long. I even bought a black out curtain for his room...no luck. I'm open for other ideas. :-)

I was hoping to upload some voice recordings I have of Cameron from my phone. Unfortunately, I converted them to a file that should work here and they still wouldn't upload. So bummed. So some photos will have to do for now.

Happy Halloween

I'm really late posting our Halloween pictures. This year was almost a disaster. We tried to take Cameron to Bonnie Springs...it's old Nevada. They were supposed to have a kids area this year. The website looked great - train ride, pumpkin patch, pony rides, petting zoo. Let's just say the best part of it was the ride home. We basically paid to go to a petting zoo you couldn't pet...or see. It smelled horrible. There was no pumpkin patch. Actually, there were no lights! It's was dark and there was NOTHING there.

I felt so bad that I decided I had to take Cameron back to the pumpkin patch we took him to last year. It was small and in a parking lot, but apparently that's the best option in Vegas. Cameron had a blast!! He was so excited about picking out a pumpkin. There was also a small petting zoo. He really did't want to pet anything...he just kept bending over to talk to the goats.



We carved the pumpkin that same night. He was right in there to help scoop it out. However, he didn't want to touch the pumpkin guts. He would only use the spoon. When it came time to carve the pumpkin he sat in my lap so he could watch the entire process. When we light a candle inside, he sang happy birthday to it! He now associates candles with singing happy birthday.

We had a Halloween party with the kids. They all put on their costumes and had a great time. They got to hunt for pumpkin lollipops...Cameron loved it and found the most. We also let them decorate cupcakes. It was such a hit (thanks Monica for the great ideas).

On Halloween we took the kids to the District at Green Valley Ranch to trick or treat. Again, Cameron was so excited. It was all he could talk about. He loves his "punkin" and did good carrying it around the entire time. He was even walking up to trick or treat all by himself.

As you can see from the mess he's laying in...he is loving this Halloween stuff. He made him self comfortable on the floor with a box of Nerds...you can see them all over the floor all around him. What a mess!

Overall, Halloween was a success! I'm sure Christmas will be just as much fun. We were into Target and they already had Christmas trees out...he ran up to them all excited asking what it was. Let the fun begin.
